HARMONY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A New Jersey State trooper is being praised after rescuing a deer from drowning.
Trooper Dwayne Phillips responded to a call of a drowning deer in a swimming pool on Oct. 23.
When Phillips arrived at the scene, he noticed the buck had been struggling to get out of the water for a while and was exhausted, according to a Facebook post published by the department.
The trooper grabbed the buck by his rack and pulled him from the pool, saving him from drowning.
“We are happy to report that the buck eventually recovered and ran off,” the PD wrote. “He was so exhausted that he hunkered down on the ground for some time before he could regain enough energy to even stand.”
