SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — A 15-year-old stabbing suspect high on LSD was fatally shot over the weekend.
According to CBS SF, Luke Smith took the drug then stabbed his father and uncle before fleeing the scene.
Deputies found Smith near the scene with the knife still in hand. After talking with him and warning him to drop the knife multiple times, Smith hopped a fence.
Officers said they fired foam rounds, deployed TASERs and K-9s, but nothing had an effect on Smith, the news station reported.
Smith then threatened the officers with the knife and was fatally shot.
Officers rendered aid after a K-9 retrieved the knife.
Officials told the news station the father suffered a collapsed lung and the uncle was stabbed multiple times in the chest and arm. They were in severe condition and taken to the hospital.
