When I am approached by an unknown person while sitting in my patrol unit, I often either unholster and keep my weapon in my lap or at least have the securities unsnapped and ready for a quick draw. This will allow for quick response in case the person approaching is doing so for the purpose of attack. I also put my unit in drive, ready for the fast escape if needed.
Usually when people approach it’s for driving directions...but you never know. Taking these steps will make you more secure in knowing that your chances of going home have improved.
