OROVILLE, Calif. — A student gunman who fired shots in a northern California high school was in custody Friday, authorities said.
There were no injuries resulting from the incident at Las Plumas High School, said Sang Kim, a spokesman for Butte County, in a statement.

Kim said the student had taken hostages, but “as of 10:40 a.m. all hostages have been released.”

He did not say how many students had been taken hostage.

Schools in the Oroville Union High School District were locked down after the shots were fired while deputies tried to negotiate with the gunman.

A Butte County Sheriff’s dispatcher said a 911 call came in from the school just after 9 a.m.

Oroville is 80 miles north of Sacramento.
