A man intentionally rammed his Corvette into a police car this morning, after hitting several other vehicles near downtown Fort Lauderdale, police said.
Rafael Jose Rubin Reyes, 34, was driving on Broward Boulevard about 7:30 a.m. when he hit a car and spun it into an intersection near Andrews Avenue, said Fort Lauderdale Det. Kathy Collins.
Reyes then took off, backing into a second vehicle. He headed toward Southwest ThirdAvenue and 17th Street near Broward General Medical Center where he was cornered by police.
''We boxed him in, and he hit a police car in his attempt to take off,’' Collins said.
Reyes was arrested and charged with reckless driving and fleeing police. But first, as police policy, he was checked for any injuries at Broward General.
