Two suspects in a home-invasion robbery in Norcross early Tuesday were seriously injured when their car crashed while being pursued by police.
Two more suspects in the car fled on foot and were still at large Tuesday afternoon. They, too, may have been injured in the crash, police said.
None of the home-invasion victims were injured.
Police did not release any names Tuesday.
Police initially said the robbery occurred about 4:55 a.m. at the Reserve apartments at 4200 Jimmy Carter Blvd. Later information indicated it occurred at Oakwood Vista apartments at 100 Ardsley Place.
The two complexes share a long driveway off Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
Police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney said a woman knocked on the door of apartment No. 335 and “gained the trust” of the resident, who opened the door.
Three men then forced their way inside and took cash and personal items. All four suspects fled in a red four-door Pontiac that later was found to be a rental car.
Police spotted the Pontiac on I-85 North. The car exited at Indian Trail Lilburn Road, failed to negotiate a turn at the top of the ramp and crashed into a tree between the freeway and Willow Trail Parkway.
The woman, 21, of Decatur, and one of the men with her --- a 30-year-old from New Orleans --- were badly hurt in the crash and taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, Moloney said. Both are expected to survive.
Moloney said their names are being withheld because they and their companions are suspects in at least three other similar robberies in the county.
Moloney said detectives have a possible identification on one of the men who fled.
Exact charges have not been determined, Moloney said, but several felony charges are pending.
