NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Two Orange teens who were killed in a car accident in June were both well above the legal driving limit for alcohol consumption when they made a “sudden” left turn into the path of a Milford police officer’s speeding cruiser, sources said Wednesday.
David Servin and Ashlie Krakowski, both 19, were making a left turn from Boston Post Road onto Dogwood Road in Orange when Milford police Officer Jason Anderson’s cruiser collided with their car about 2:15 a.m. June 13, according to the initial state police report of the accident. Servin was driving the teens’ car, state police said.
After a five-month investigation, it was revealed Anderson was traveling at 94 mph when his cruiser collided with the teens’ car. A videotape of the accident showed the teens’ car turning directly into the path of Anderson’s cruiser at the intersection.
Sources said both Servin and Krakowski had a blood-alcohol level in the range of 0.13 percent, well above the legal driving limit of 0.08 for an adult. But because they were both under 21, the legal limit was 0.02.
