A Rogers Park man used his T-shirt to hang himself in his jail cell over the weekend after he was arrested, authorities said Monday.

Officers arrested Dwayne Brown, 45, on Saturday night on charges of domestic battery and violation of an order of protection, Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak said.

He was processed at the Rogers Park District headquarters at 6464 N. Clark St. and placed in a holding cell to await a bond hearing Sunday, police said.

Brown was found unresponsive early Sunday and hanging from his T-shirt, police said.

An autopsy determined that Brown of the 7700 block of North Rogers Avenue died of asphyxiation and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
