PAW PAW, Mich. — Police found 1,500 pills of suspected ecstasy during a traffic stop Saturday on Interstate 94 in Van Buren County, authorities said.
The pills, which were bound for Chicago from Detroit, have an estimated street value of $67,000, according to Michigan State Police. Troopers made the find after stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation at about 10:25 p.m. near M-51, a news release said.
The vehicle’s driver, a 30-year-old Detroit man, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver ecstasy and driving while his license was suspended, the news release said. Police said the man had more than 30 current suspensions on his license.
Police said a 24-year-old Highland Park woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on outstanding warrants and released after posting bond.
The names of the driver and the passenger were not released. They are expected to be arraigned in court later today.
