VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police found an indoor marijuana growing operation near a high school in Vancouver, Washington, while snipers were getting into position during a recent 20-hour standoff.
Police discovered 50 or more 5-foot-pot plants, a sophisticated exhaust system, ceiling mounted growing lights and processed marijuana in a freezer.
The standoff began on July 18, as police tried to serve an arrest warrant on a man who lives near Mountain View High School.
Additional officers were called in after the man shot 1 of the officers and held another man in the house hostage.
Snipers busted into a house next door, where they found the growing operation.
Police have not said whether they believe the home’s owners are linked to the operation.
