SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A police trooper is under investigation following several questionable incidents, including a high-speed chase during which a trooper hit a lieutenant with his cruiser.
In video recently released, Trooper Alan Aiken can be seen aiming at and hitting Lt. John Overman of the State Police. Aiken said he mistook Overman for the suspect in the pursuit, according to thv1.com.
Overman filed a complaint last week against Aiken with the professional standards office. He says he has “lifelong injuries” from the January 2017 incident.
In addition, State Police are investigating Troop L in the northwest part of the state after two civilian troop telecommunications operators were suspended without pay after being accused of documenting sick time as work time.
Administrators plan to meet with the troop’s supervisors and troopers to review “routine practices and procedures.”
