Duty Death: Shirley Lanning - [Canadian County]

OKLAHOMA CITY — A Canadian County deputy has died after a two-vehicle crash.
KOCO reports Lt. Shirley Lanning died from injuries sustained when her patrol vehicle was involved in a collision Friday morning. Two people in the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“Shirley was loved very much by all who knew and worked with her, and she will be dearly missed,” Canadian County Sheriff Chris West wrote in a statement. “(She) was a dedicated and committed law enforcement professional.”
Lanning previously worked for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the University of Central Oklahoma campus police, according to West’s statement.
