This morning I came in for the morning shift at 7 a.m. shift. A young girl was sitting on the bench with cuffs on, yelling and screaming – and spitting. I’d recently learned about an anti-spitting device, and I thought of how similar it was to ordinary mosquito netting, which we have plenty of. I decided to give it a try and it worked very well. My fellow officers and I were spit-free for the whole six hours of the girl’s hospital intake. She tried a few spits behind the net, but with so little luck she quickly gave up.
