COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A Coweta County deputy is recovering after being ejected from his cruiser in a crash and the sheriff’s office is looking for the Good Samaritan who pulled the deputy to safety.

Deputy Braelyn Dozier was seriously injured after a box truck cut him off on the interstate causing Dozier’s cruiser to rollover, ejecting him, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

A truck driver stopped to help and pulled Dozier off the interstate. The sheriff’s office said that act saved the deputy’s life since the rollover caused a chain-reaction of crashes and claimed one driver’s life.

“A truck driver came by, that saw it, jumped out of his truck and helped get him out of the middle of the road so that he didn’t get run over,” said Sheriff Lenn Wood.

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize the truck driver who saved the deputy.

“Hopefully we can get him up here so I can personally thank him for what he did,” said Wood.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident and searching for the driver of the box truck that cut the deputy off and caused the crash.
