CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Deanna Hooker wrote in a Facebook post that her 5-year-old son woke up scared after hearing the sirens and helicopters during the Charlotte protests.

Then on the way to school, Jayden heard about the officers who were injured while patrolling the riots.

“He asked me if he could bring the police donuts and give them hugs for all they do,” his mother wrote. “It is amazing how much children can teach us during times like this.”

She brought him down to the Charlotte police station where he gave every officer a hug and donuts.

“This is love in its purest form and what our world needs right now.”
