OAK CREEK, Wis. — The officer who was shot multiple times while responding to the Oak Creek Sikh Temple shooting last August has announced he plans to retire from the department.
Lt. Brian Murphy, who has since recovered from bullet wounds to the face, back of the head, and body, will officially retire June 12, according to WISN.
Murphy just recently attended the ILEETA (International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association) conference in April, where an overflowing crowd of officers and police trainers gave him a standing ovation before he even gave his speech.
After detailing the events of the shooting, Murphy left the crowd with one thought: “Never give up.”
Murphy doesn’t know for sure what his retirement plans will hold, but has considered teaching, according to the article.
