COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Law enforcement officers and good Samaritans worked together to save a woman as she stood on the outside of a protective fence on a Florida overpass.

The woman was reportedly threatening to jump off the overpass into traffic, but a deputy and a bystander reached through the protective fence and held onto the woman despite her attempts to get free from them, NBC 2 reported.

The tense moments were captured on camera and a box truck driver placed his vehicle underneath the woman. Other deputies and more good Samaritans raced into action and climbed to the top of the truck to help the woman safely fall to the vehicle.

“When the community comes together when someone was having a crisis, actually work together to try and help her get through that moment instead of standing by and watching … they helped us out that day. That means a lot. I’m really proud to be part of a community that is like that,” Cpl. James Sheran, who was the first deputy on scene, said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital after the incident.
