Throughout his tenure at Calibre, Buhrmaster was involved with virtually every aspect of the company’s officer survival training efforts, from the planning, creation and marketing of the organization’s award-winning textbooks and videos to developing and securing training content for the Seminar. In 1995, he was named Director of the Calibre Press Street Survival Newsline®, an Internet-based officer survival training service he helped found. In less than five years, Newsline readership grew from 25 officers to more than 250,000 in 26 countries, making it one of the most popular training vehicles in law enforcement history. His efforts now focus on providing training and information to the nearly 400,000 officers worldwide who visit Police1.com every month.

Prior to joining Police1, Buhrmaster, who also serves on the National Advisory Board of the Force Science Research Center and stands as an active member of the American Society for Law Enforcement Training and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, was President of The Buhrmaster Consulting Group, an international consulting practice for the law enforcement training sector and the publishing industry. Lon Bartel is a use-of-force expert for VirTra, Inc., and works closely with law enforcement agencies on use-of-force scenario training. He is a retired peace officer and has been a certified law enforcement trainer for over 17 years. AZPOST recognizes him as an expert in the areas of defensive tactics and firearms. He served as his Department’s Rangemaster from 2005-2017. Lon co-founded the Arizona Tactical Officers Association and served as secretary for five years. As a SWAT member, he was a senior operator and was instrumental in creating the explosive breaching program for his department in 2008 where he served as the lead tactical breacher. Lon was also an adjunct instructor for the largest manufacturer of force on force technology and training munitions for six years. This experience has allowed him to witness thousands of simulated forces on force incidents, providing invaluable insight into human performance under stress.

Lon has used his expertise to serve on numerous review boards, which include reviewing and evaluating 300+ actual police cases involving the use of force and deadly force. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science (Magna Cum Laude) from Arizona State University. Most recently, Lon has been certified by the Force Science Institute (FSI) as a certified Use of Force analyst and is a certified Advanced Specialist with FSI as well.

Chris Lawrence is the Team Leader of the Defensive Tactics Training Section at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer, Ontario, Canada. Chris began his police career in 1979 as a foot patrol officer in St. Thomas Ontario. In 1983 he joined the Peel Regional Police where his assignments included general patrol, cell officer, Underwater Search & Recovery, Marine Patrol, Tactical & Rescue Unit, Criminal Investigation Bureau and Training.

Chris’ teaching experience started in 1983 and includes training related to his assignments, including 4 years as adjunct faculty at Sheridan College in Brampton, Ontario and 10 years as a consultant in the security industry. He became a full-time staff instructor at OPC in 1996.

Chris has a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University in British Columbia, and is a Technical Advisor to the Force Science Research Center, Minnesota State University-Mankato. He has testified regarding use of force training and subject control in Canada and the United States and has published and presented on the subject of police use of force and sudden deaths throughout North America and in Australia.

Lt. Kevin Dillon (ret) is a nationally recognized law enforcement speaker and trainer who has trained officers and consulted in law enforcement use-of-force issues and/or programs throughout North America and Europe. He developed two nationally recognized training systems, the trademarked L.O.C.K.U.P. arrest-and-control system and L.E.A.D.S. Law Enforcement Active Escalation Strategies. Lieutenant Dillon is also the founder and principal of KFD Training & Consultation LLC. Lt. Dillon recently was awarded the FBI National Academy Associates Science and Innovation Award for quantifying and measuring defensive tactics and use of force.
