WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Six fugitive parolees have been arrested this week by a task force created by Attorney General Phill Kline to track down the state’s most dangerous parole absconders.
With the latest arrests in Wichita, the task force -- known as Operation PADLOC, or the Parole Absconder Detection, Location and Capture -- has found 55 fugitives since it was created last year.
The task force has targeted fugitives convicted of violent crimes or sex offenses, said attorney general spokesman Whitney Watson.
“These weren’t property crimes or drug crimes,” he said. “These were aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery, aggravated weapons violations, indecent liberties. ... We got them all in Wichita.’
