CRAFTON, Penn. — A police officer was beaten unconscious moments after he called for backup while patrolling near a municipal ball field.
Borough Officer Timothy Harvison called for help about 1 a.m. Tuesday, but he did not respond when dispatchers radioed back, police said. When other officers arrived, they found him beaten and unconscious near a concession stand.
Harvison suffered a concussion, bruises and cuts and was being held for observation at Allegheny General Hospital, Crafton police said in a statement Tuesday.
Crafton police Capt. Mark Sumpter said investigators planned to download video from a camera inside Harvison’s car to see if it shows what happened.
Harvison has been a borough police officer for five years.
