A newly-released police car dash-cam video has gone viral, especially in law enforcement chat rooms and websites. Officer Ben Afterum was stunned after reviewing the video taken while he was en route to a request for assistance at a fight call.
“I’d never experienced that before. While running code something seemed different, but I had to look at the tape to be sure it was really true,” Afterum said.
The stunning scene has confounded police experts across the country.
The video starts with Afterum switching on his emergency lights and siren. As he rushes the two miles to the call, the camera shows drivers one by one looking into their rear view mirror, turning on their right blinkers, and pulling over to the side of the road to let the police car pass safely by.
“It was magical,” Officer Afterum said. “I’ve seen everything now — I should retire.”
Several commenters in online forums have posted accusations that the video is ‘so unbelievable it must be a fake’, but such claims are so far unsubstantiated.
