TAYLORSVILLE -- A fleeing man who thought he could pull a fast one on a pursuing officer was arrested Monday afternoon.
A Taylorsville police officer noticed a suspicious vehicle near the Fairway Apartments, near 3900 South and 1100 West, about 2:30 p.m. The officer started to follow the car, but when the driver realized what was happening, he got out and ran, said Taylorsville Police Sgt. Rosie Rivera.
The pursuing officer chased the man through the apartment complex and spotted him running into the manager’s office. When the officer opened the office door, he spotted the man behind a keyboard, typing away, she said.
“He was pretending to be an employee. He was acting like he was doing his normal job, typing on the computer,” Rivera said.
The officer had gotten a good look at the man before he entered the office, however, and was not fooled by the ruse.
The man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of several charges. Detectives learned the car he was originally in was stolen.
