BROCKPORT, N.Y. — A New York officer was greeted by a furry surprise when he responded to a call about a squirrel making its way through a woman’s home.
WHAM reports that Susan Zinck called police about a squirrel that somehow made it inside her home. Zinck said the creature chewed its way through a wall in her bathroom. She soon caught the squirrel munching on some cookies on her kitchen table.
In fear of the interloper, she called police. Almost immediately after arriving at the door, the squirrel leaped onto Officers Sime and Dawson. Dawson said the creature jumped onto Sime and then hit him in the chest before making its way out the door.
But the squirrel made it back inside again, and police were eventually able to corner it behind the kitchen stove. The squirrel also bit onto one of the officer’s gloves when he went to grab it.
The Brockport PD released body cam footage of the incident on Facebook, which has since gone viral.
Brockport police said they were glad they were able to help out. Unfortunately, the cookies couldn’t be saved.
