Police told Jarred Wright he was driving with a child without a car seat

HURST, Texas — Footage of police officers making a surprise announcement to an Army vet during a “traffic stop” is going viral.

Jarred and Nikki Wright were pulled over on April 19 by Hurst police for driving “with a child without a car seat,” Fox 31 reported. When Jarred expressed confusion, his wife held up a positive pregnancy test.

Jarred, an Army veteran who suffers from PTSD, developed a friendship with the officers after an episode last year. Four officers showed up after he called a crisis hotline and stayed with him until he calmed down, Buzzfeed reported.

Nikki called Officer Todd Colichia, one of the officers who talked him down, and asked for his help in delivering the good news.

“She wanted to tell Jarred but she also did not want him to have any issues with PTSD,” Colichia said. “Since he and I had history she thought it would be great for me to be part of it.”

The surprise announcement has been viewed on YouTube close to 90,000 times. As for Jarred, he’s “elated.”

“I didn’t have my wallet or license on me, so all I’m thinking about is how much this ticket is gonna cost me,” Jarred Wright told BuzzFeed. “Then she hit me with the surprise and I was relieved. I was ecstatic and I went into complete shock.”
