MIAMI- An inmate who escaped from the same jail complex where a serial rape suspect used tied-up bed sheets to flee last month was recaptured Thursday, police said.
Officers found Rodney T. Buckles at a Miami-area home and talked him into surrendering, county police spokeswoman Joanne Duncan said.
Buckles, 25, had been held on a misdemeanor domestic-violence charge. He apparently scaled at least one razor-wire fence at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center when he escaped while on laundry duty Tuesday, police said.
The serial rape suspect, Reynaldo E. Rapalo, was recaptured six days after his escape.
Both men shed their jail jumpsuits and donned street clothes after escaping. Officials said inmates in the jail’s high-security wings are now allowed only underwear, flip-flops, exercise shorts and a jumpsuit.
Four corrections employees have been relieved of duty pending an internal investigation, corrections officials said.
