It’s winter time and for many this is considered the cold and flu season. To cut down the chances of getting an annoying virus try this:
- If you share a patrol car or other work space with other shifts wipe down areas you normally touch with low-cost antibacterial wipes.
- Wipe steering wheels, door and window controls, climate controls, radios, switches etc.
- If you’re inside wipe down keyboards, radio mics, door knobs, and telephones. Just do it tactfully to avoid hurt feelings of other officers.
Most colds are passed on by touching the contaminated surface and then touching your face or other muscous membranes. Using antibacterial wipes on your hands throughout the day supported by proper hand washing can reduce your chances of being infected as well.
Making sure not to take home clothing, footwear or other clothing contaminated with blood or other body fluids helps protect our families as well. Often, contaminated footwear is overlooked at the end of the day.
Stay safe.
