WATERBURY, Conn. (AP)_ Two Danbury men have been arrested for allegedly trying to trade a pound of cocaine for a house in Waterbury.
The two men were followed into the city after police received a tip Wednesday. Police approached the two men when they stopped at a liquor store.
Police searched Ghayath Saad and Hashim Fayad, both 38, and found 10 grams of cocaine and arrested them, Detective Sgt. Scott Stevenson said.
The two men told police than the small quantity was a sample of the one-pound of the drug they planned to trade -- along with $20,000 -- for a house in Waterbury.
“This is truly a bizarre case,” Stevenson said.
The two men were being held in lieu of $250,000 bond on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
