HACKETT, Ark. — Two days after a deadly house call that left Sebastian County Deputy Bill Cooper dead and Hackett Police Chief Darrell Spells wounded, the department’s beloved canine was located.
K-9 Kina was caught in the crossfire and fled into the woods after Billy Monroe Jones opened fire on officers who were responding to a house call.
Greenwood Police Department spokeswoman Kristin Faulkenberry told Fox News Kina, “was up and walking” when searchers found the animal Friday morning near where the shooting unfolded.
Police officials told the publication the dog had two gunshot wounds and was taken to a veterinarian, but appeared to be recovering.
According to the report, Jones eventually surrendered and is now in custody.
