City settles with man who claimed cops prevented him from filming drug bust

ATLANTA - The city of Atlanta is settling another case where it admits to police officers violating the civil rights of a citizen. Just a couple months ago the city gave $1 million to the patrons of a midtown bar. This week, an East Atlanta man was awarded $40,000.

“As we approached the scene it became apparent there was a drug raid going on,” said Marlon Kautz, a member of a volunteer group called Cop Watch."We stood on this sidewalk on public property and basically recorded what was going on inside.”

Kautz said he was in Little Five Points when he said an Atlanta police officer went after him in April of 2010 when he tried to tape a drug bust.
