CASPER, Wyo. — Casper Police Chief Tom Pagel will be reprimanded for using department letterhead on a letter endorsing an applicant for Wyoming’s vacant US Senate seat.
Casper City Manager Tom Forslund says it’s a violation of the city’s ethics policy to involved city government in partisan politics.
On June 12, Pagel wrote a letter on police department letterhead endorsing state Representative Colin Simpson of Cody for the Senate seat held by the late Senator Craig Thomas.
Pagel says id it was an “inadvertent error” on his part.
He said no public money was spent on mailing the letter.
Forslund says he can’t elaborate on what the reprimand would involved because it was a personnel matter.
