OLATHE, Kan. — A Kansas officer preparing for his involvement in an upcoming presidential motorcade collapsed and died Tuesday after suffering a heart attack.
According to the Topeka Capital Journal, Officer Michael Kern was on-duty and cleaning his police motorcycle when he collapsed.
Kern served with the Olathe Police Department for 13 years, and had worked previously with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department in Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and son.
Kern was 43, according to ODMP.
