An Albuquerque police officer caught inside a car with a prostitute has been removed from the department’s SWAT team, and Police Chief Ray Schultz said he is seeking a “substantial suspension.”
In late August, undercover officers conducting a prostitution sting along Central spotted officer Glenn McGuire in a parked car. McGuire, a 13-year veteran, was off duty at the time. Officers watched the vehicle and saw a woman, whom they knew to be a prostitute, exit the passenger side door before the car drove off.
When the undercover officers approached the woman, she told them she had been in an argument with McGuire and he had touched her in a sexual manner.
McGuire was placed on paid administrative leave while criminal and internal investigations were conducted.
Schultz said the criminal investigation has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office. After reviewing the internal investigation, Schultz said he was seeking a “substantial suspension” for McGuire.
There will be a hearing before Schultz within 10 days. McGuire said he wouldn’t comment until after the hearing.
