FORT WORTH, Texas — A group of motorcyclists wants answers after they say they filmed video of a police officer pepper spraying them as they drove down the highway, according to the Star-Telegram.
A man filmed video of a Fort Worth Police Department spraying what appears to be pepper spray at a group of bikers.
The Fort Worth Police Department in Texas said it’s aware of the incident and the officer involved has been removed from patrol duties while an investigation takes place.
About 200 bikers from the motorcycle team East Texas Heat were riding Sunday as part of an event. Video shows a red pickup truck, one of the group’s safety vehicles that joined the ride in case of emergency, pulled over on the side of the road. Moments after the man filming passes the officer, he gets out of his patrol car and sprays what appears to be pepper spray toward the throng of bikers.
The driver of the pickup received a citation for driving without a license and two passengers were cited for standing in the bed of the truck filming. The newspaper reports that several motorists had called 911 to report the passengers standing in the truck and to report motorcyclists who were racing, weaving and blocking traffic.
