RALEIGH, N.C. — Four gang members accused of attacking a Wake County deputy while he was at a child’s birthday party in February pleaded guilty to several counts Monday, WNCN reported.
Suspects Delfino Alejo, 27, Gabriel Moreno, 39, Miguel Angel Moreno, 27, and Remi Nambo, 27, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and malicious assault in secret.
The men attacked the deputy, whose identity was not published due to undercover work, on Feb. 6. They asked him to step outside and then immediately jumped him - calling him a pig during the attack.
The deputy suffered broken ribs, a broken nose and a back injury. He was out of work for weeks.
Alex Moreno, a sister of the brothers Gabriel and Miguel, said they did not attack the officer because he was law enforcement. She told the news site she believes alcohol played a major factor in the fight.
