CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County police officer assisting with a crash investigation on northbound I-75 was injured when a car struck him and took off Thursday night.
Authorities responded to a call from the officer about 11:45 p.m. near Charles W. Grant Parkway, Clayton police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said. They found the injured policeman had been struck while he was attempting to block a lane of traffic for another officer who was working the earlier accident.
The injured officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He remained there overnight for observation, Marbury said.
The make and model of the suspect’s vehicle is unknown at this time.
No other details were released.
