Trunk Precaution

This clip from In the Line of Duty, one of the finest producers of law enforcement training videos on the market, serves as a jarring reminder of the hidden threats that may be lurking inside car trunks.

As you approach the rear of a vehicle, make it a habit to push down on the trunk to ensure that it’s closed and not cracked in preparation for someone to spring out at you from inside. Pushing down, as opposed to pulling up, will help secure whoever might be inside. Also, keep this footage in mind the next time you open a trunk during a search. Be ready for anything!
