WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Body camera footage captured a West Valley police officer falling 10 feet off a roof while trying to arrest a suspect, Deseret News reported.

Officers were called to a Shell gas station on Nov. 17 to reports of a man loitering and refusing to leave, police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku told the publication.

When officers arrived, the man ran off, broke into a commercial building and climbed onto the roof. The suspect threw metal pipes and roof vents at the officers.

“The suspect made statements that he had a grenade,” Vainuku told the news site.

The officer in the body camera video confronted the man on the roof. The man charged the officer and the officer lost his balance. He fell 10 feet onto the pavement.

The officer, who has not been identified, suffered only minor bumps and bruises.

The man, 32-year-old Sergio Ramirez, was taken into custody after being physically restrained.

Ramirez was booked for investigation of threat of terrorism, criminal mischief, three counts of assault on an officer, fleeing, interfering with an arrest and disorderly conduct.
