CLEVELAND, Ohio — Dramatic video recorded by a police body camera shows an officer who’d just been shot in the ballistic vest pleading with the suspect to drop his gun before four other officers shot him.

The video was released by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty on Wednesday, a day after he determined the four Cleveland officers who fatally shot 64-year-old Theodore Johnson were justified in using lethal force.

Officers had gone to the home on March 11 after Johnson’s wife called 911 to report that Johnson had threatened to kill her and their landlord.

Police say Johnson opened a door and fired twice at officers after they announced their presence. One shot struck patrolman David Muniz’s ballistic vest. Muniz and other officers can be heard asking Johnson to drop his gun.
