LANCASTER, Pa. — Police in Pennsylvania were able to identify a suspect charged with stealing money in part due to a “cartoonish” police sketch.

Lancaster Online reports that Hung Phuoc Nguyen, 44, pretended to be an employee at a vendor’s stand and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The Lancaster City PD released a description of the suspect and a hand-drawn sketch of him, which was submitted by a witness at the time.

Nguyen was identified by a witness and authorities who recognized his physical description.

“While the sketch provided by the witness may have appeared amateurish and cartoonish, it, along with the distinctive physical descriptors, jogged the memory of at least one investigator to provide a potential suspect name,” Lancaster police said.

Nguyen is still at large as of Friday and anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Lancaster police.
