SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento police officer was filmed leading popular dances with children during a youth outreach program June 18, News 10 reported.
The Sacramento Summer Night Lights (SSNL) originally posted the footage of Sacramento Police Department Lt. Roman Murrietta dancing with children to “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” by Silentó.
The event was designed to reduce violence and bring safe fun to high-crime neighborhoods, Jenna Abbott, SSNL spokesperson, said to News 10. The event allows communities to come together and has been a hit among the neighborhood it serves.
“We always have two uniformed police officers on site doing exactly what you see Roman doing, community policing,” she said in her interview. “It’s a time for neighbors to come out and get to know their community and they help out in keeping it safe.”
