BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — When residents were ordered to evacuate Sunday due to flood risks from a nearby dam, many animals were left behind — including some exotic ones.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento division were patrolling to make sure residents evacuated when they discovered two kangaroos, CBS San Francisco reported.
The animal pair, Kenzie and Dottie, were evacuated safely along with mini deer and zebras. Police said the animals were turned over to a woman living in a nearby county until they can return home.
