WASHINGTON — The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund on Friday will honor those wholost their lives because of the 9/11 terror attacks.
At 8:15 a.m. the NLEOMF will host a Facebook livestream to honor the hundreds of officers who died, according to a release. The livestream will be available on the Facebook pages of both the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum.
While 72 officers died responding to the Twin Towers - the deadliest day in law enforcement history - the line-of-duty death total has risen to 350 from illnesses linked to exposure to toxic materials, according to the release.
The livestream ceremony will include a presentation of wreaths, live ceremonial music and time for silent reflection. Local law enforcement, including some who were on duty at the Pentagon that day, will read off the names of those who died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001.
