OAK CREEK, Wisconsin — Sikhs will hold a candlelight vigil for the six people killed a year ago by a white supremacist at a temple in the U.S.

Monday is the one-year anniversary of the shooting rampage at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, in which five other worshippers and a police officer were injured. The gunman killed himself.

Temple members have been paying tribute to the victims all weekend. They say their aim is to practice “Chardi Kala,” the Sikh principle of constant optimism even in the face of adversity.

The state’s two U.S. senators and its governor have joined them in remembrance events.
