OAK BROOK, Ill. — Drew Peterson’s son has been suspended from his job as an Oak Brook Police officer.
Stephen Peterson was put on paid administrative leave Friday. He declined to discuss the matter. The Oak Brook Police Department did not return calls.
Testifying on Monday at a pretrial hearing in his father’s illegal gun possession case, Stephen Peterson admitted he took possession of an AR-15 rifle and at least one other weapon his father did not want the Illinois State Police to get their hands on. He testified that on Oct. 30, 2007, his father came to his North Aurora home with two or three guns. Drew Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, had been reported missing the day before.
Drew Peterson is awaiting trial on murder charges in the 2004 bathtub death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Police have called him a suspect in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.
Stephen Peterson surrendered the rifle to the state police three days after his father gave it to him. He faces no criminal charges.
