In this week’s video tip, Redman Training Division trainer Dave Young explains the importance of strobing. If your eyes get contaminated, whether it be with tobacco juice, saliva, or chemicals (like OC), be sure to strobe your eyes.
The term “strobing” refers to rapid blinking, which helps restores the natural eye fluids needed for vision and focus. Many officers react to irritants by rubbing their eyes — do not do this, since it can disturb tear film, remove moisture, cause corneal abrasions, tear the retna, or bruise the sclera.
