BOSTON—A former Swampscott police officer has pleaded guilty to federal charges of selling oxycodone and cocaine.
Thirty-eight-year-old Thomas Wrenn of Nahant pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston on Thursday. He also agreed to forfeit a car prosecutors said was linked to the drug deals. A sentencing hearing is set for September.
Wrenn was arrested in March after allegedly buying 50 pills from a police informant.
Federal prosecutors said the investigation began after Swampscott police were tipped off about Wrenn’s alleged drug use last year. They alleged he had distributed illegal painkillers on about 20 occasions in the past five years, and had distributed cocaine on three occasions in 2006.
Wrenn resigned from the police department after his arrest.
