NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla.- Sheriff’s deputies investigating two stabbings took a man into custody Thursday after a more than three-hour standoff at his mobile home, where Nazi flags were displayed outside.
Pasco County sheriff’s deputies called the SWAT team after trying to serve a search warrant at the trailer, which has been the site of neo-Nazi activity in the past, sheriff’s spokesman Doug Tobin said. Authorities were questioning the man about the stabbings.
A 44-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy believed to be a friend of her son were stabbed multiple times by a masked man just after midnight Thursday, the sheriff’s office said.
The boy, whose name had not been released, was seriously injured. The woman, Patricia Lynn Wells, was able to seek help from a neighbor and was treated and released from a hospital, authorities said.
It was unclear whether the stabbings had anything to do with past neo-Nazi activity in the area, Tobin said.
New Port Richey is about 40 miles northwest of Tampa.
