GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C.— State Trooper Paul Mitchell and a Guilford County Sheriff’s Deputy were involved in a collision while pursuing a hit and run suspect, WFMY reports.
Investigators said suspect Samuel Rosado and a passenger flipped their car in a single-car crash when both men jumped and ran before the officers arrived on the scene.
Mitchell began driving looking for the suspect when his car and a deputy’s collided, sending Michell’s car into a tree, the TV station reports.
Both officers were taken to the hospital. Mitchell suffered a broken leg while the deputy suffered minor injuries.
An investigation is still ongoing.
Both men were arrested. Rosado is charged with felony hit and run, resisting a public officer, careless and reckless driving, and possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage.
