Two Ga. dorms evacuated after suspicious devices found

The Associated Press

ATLANTA- Students evacuated two Georgia Tech dorms Monday after a chemical-filled bottle found in a campus courtyard exploded. At least two more bottles were found and detonated by police.

The bottle that blew up was found by a janitor picking up trash Monday morning. He suffered no serious injuries, authorities said.

About 100 students were evacuated from the two residence halls.

“Police are taking this seriously,” said police spokeswoman Sylvia Abernathy. Suspects could be charged with making terroristic threats and may face federal charges, she said.

Police still are working to determine what chemicals were in the bottles.
