Mason, Ohio- A state trooper and a sheriff’s deputy were struck by a car and injured at a suburban Cincinnati intersection where they were investigating a two-vehicle crash, the State Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Brandon Williams was hospitalized Friday with a broken leg and cuts to his head. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, said Lt. Anthony Lauer, commander of the patrol’s post in nearby Lebanon.

Deputy Paul Barger was expected to be treated at a hospital and released, the Warren County sheriff’s office said.

Williams and Barger were in an intersection in Deerfield Township, investigating an earlier accident involving an injury, when they were hit about 9:30 p.m. Thursday by a car driven by an 18-year-old woman, Lauer said.

The woman stopped after the accident, he said. The officers were working in a four-lane road where the speed limit is 35 mph, he said.

Authorities hadn’t determined if the driver will be charged.
